Hi - I work at a marketing company and a lof of folks here aren't clear about a staycation. Did you want to stay at home or take min-trips near your home? What do you think the benefits were vs. taking a trip out of town requiring a fair amount of travel time?

I'd love your POV! Thanks.

sarah-
yesterday someone sent me a feedback email as a "thank you" for something i had done for someone else. instead of saying "thanks, i appreciate it" she wrote a paragraph explaining why she was so appreciative. i really hits home. i think adults throw around "thank you" the way parents throw around "no". i really believe that it's so effective (in both instances) to explain why. it totally made a difference for me yesterday and will affect the way i do things in the future. great blog post and i am gald the monkey had you "take hime a bath"--obviously something that makes a difference in his day, too!

Great post. You might like a book coming out from a friend of mine, Shari Storm. I don't know if the title is settled on yet (the book is coming out next year) but it's about how motherhood is great training to be a corporate manager--that motherhood is the new MBA!

Yes thats a fantastic western! i also watched it yesterday and must say it is the first really top notch classic western movie in years!!!
I find the psychological aspect of the complexity of the relationship between the two main characters intriguing.. as did i with the film collateral.

sarah, i love this post! i am just entering a phase of really making sure my "babies" are "moving" on their own with enough space. i can see why people have so much difficulty with the concept, yet also how much children mature when they figure things out on their own. i had my first "mommy, don't get out of the car because i can go in [to camp] myself." never thought i could feel so proud and be so heartbroken simultaneously. by the way, when i look at all of the "parents of grown kids" i know, it is interesting to see all the variations....i think some parents allowed their kids "roots and wings" while others wanted to maintain full control. still the largest majority i see though i really think faked it, by pretending they were "letting go" while pulling strings in the wings or by "allowing" their kids to grow and do, but then criticizing them to others. thanks for this great reminder of how it's supposed to work!
